5 May Event: How can we build an infrastructure for innovation in Oslo's city center?

Oslo's newest Innovation District Centre ("Innovasjonsdistrikt Sentrum") is based on three key pillars: Innovation, Infrastructure and Identity. The upcoming session on infrastructure will focus on how to build the physical infrastructure of Innovation District Centre (IDS). Input from IDS will have a significant impact on the development of Oslo’s municipal and future area plans. Speakers will address topics such as: Should the Innovation District be exempt from rules and regulations to carry out test projects that contribute to innovation? How can we balance the need for housing and commercial development?

Hosted by Oslo Metropolitan Area and Oslo Business Region, this event will be held in Norwegian and is designed for all stakeholders in the startup ecosystem, including entrepreneurs, hubs, investors, and the public sector. ↳ The new Greenhouse for Life Sciences is one of four core fields at Oslo Science City.

New innovation unit for life sciences at Oslo Science City

The University of Oslo Health and Life Sciences has a new innovation unit: Greenhouse for Life Sciences ("Veksthuset for livsvitenskap") at the University of Oslo (UiO). It is one of four core professional fields at Oslo Science City. The Greenhouse will help UiO provide researchers and students in life sciences, health and technology with the tools they need to drive innovation so that more knowledge from research is used. Nominate a citizen, company or volunteer organization for the Oslo Environment Award. The winner will receive NOK 50,000 and recognition at an official ceremony at Oslo City Hall on 10 June 2022. More info here.

Nordic Innovation seeks smart connectivity suppliers
Deadline: 10 May 2022
Nordic Innovation is seeking a supplier that can prepare and run the day-to-day activities of the Smart Connectivity program with a goal to establish the Nordic region as a frontrunner in sustainable mobility. More specifically: how can we increase data sharing in the Nordic mobility and logistics sectors to promote sustainability, innovation and change while increasing competitiveness? More info here.

SmartOslo is municipal program that supports innovative pilot projects in Oslo. City entities partner with startups and apply for matching funds to test new technologies, products and services.

Nordic Edge Expo
10-11 May 2022

The 8th annual Nordic Edge Expo event for future cities and communities will be held in Stavanger. The theme is "From Awareness to Action." Co-organisers from the heart of European legislation, Brussels, across the Nordics and beyond will share insights and discuss topics about city and business development to achieve UN targets for climate-neutral cities within 2030. How to use cooperation and partnership to successfully tackle sustainability issues
12 May 2022, 2:00-4:00 pm

D-box will host an international webinar and workshop on how to work in partnership to succeed in sustainability. The webinar is relevant for designers, innovators, and change-makers working in or with public sector institutions at any level, with a particular interest in sustainability issues. Oslo Freedom Forum
23-25 May 2022
Oslo Freedom Forum will showcase top competitors in the hackathon themed "Internet Shutdowns," a competition with the objective of developing accessible solutions that would allow citizens, activists, civil society members, and all other stakeholders to maintain digital communication during internet shutdown. The Sensor Decade Conference
1-2 June 2022

The Sensor Decade is envisioned as a long-term meeting place for those who develop, produce and research sensor technology. The goal is to create an arena that will accelerate new ideas, help us identify common interests, aid the growth of SME technology providers, encourage new start-ups and establish long-term strategic alignments.
