Throughout 2024, Oslo Business Region is partnering with some of our Nordic neighbours; Business Helsinki and Stockholm Business Region, to deliver a series of events on the topic of impact investing and startups in the Nordics. The events are planned to take place during leading events in the Nordics: Tech Arena, Oslo Innovation Week, and Slush.

What is the importance of Nordic collaboration?

Nordic collaboration is crucial for increasing investment and talent to the region. This joint effort not only builds on our profile but also allows us to share valuable insights, positioning the Nordics prominently on the international stage.

Lauri Määttänen, Program Manager at Business Helsinki highlights that,

“Collaboration between Oslo, Stockholm, and Helsinki is crucial for fostering innovation and growth in the nordic startup ecosystem. By pooling resources, expertise, and networks, these cities can create a stronger, more vibrant entrepreneurial environment. Additionally, leveraging each city's unique strengths and specialties can lead to more diverse and resilient startups, while also attracting talent and investment on a regional and global scale. To capitalize this momentum, collaborative efforts among these vibrant Nordic cities are not just beneficial but imperative.”

Oslo Business Region has worked closely with the Nordic capitals for many years which has been grounded in our mutual interest in knowledge sharing and collaboration on initiatives, insight and networks. Tonje Ørnholt, Head of Investment at Oslo Business Region emphasises the reasons for this collaboration,

“The Nordic region is the leading impact region in the world and we see opportunities on strengthening the Nordic impact community even more when it comes to increasing investments and creating a better ecosystem for scaling startups. This series of events is not only for profiling the Nordic region but for discussing what it takes in our role as ecosystem builders to support and develop the startup and investment community together”.

The first event took place at Tech Arena in February, with the next event in the series set for Oslo Innovation Week in September:
